Our Story
Born in southern Lebanon, Jamil began his career in Beirut as a trainee roaster with leading companies in the industry. In 1977, his knowledge and experience caught the attention of a firm in Saudi Arabia seeking to expand their market reach. After contributing to their success, Jamil returned to Lebanon in 1980.
Amid the escalating civil war, Jamil was approached by a UK-based company to oversee their roasting operations. Prioritizing his family’s safety, he relocated them to the United Kingdom. Embracing his new environment, Jamil gained invaluable experience and insights into the UK market.
In 1990, alongside his eldest son, Jamil established his first wholesale roastery, Sidon. The company quickly became a market leader in supplying high-quality dry roasted nuts and coffee across the UK. Prestigious clients included Claridge’s, Harrods, Selfridges, and Habitat Home, as well as general stores and wholesale cash and carry outlets.
By 1997, having grown Sidon into a renowned brand, Jamil decided to sell the business and take a well-deserved break. Upon returning to the UK, he identified a gap in the market for a place offering the finest and freshest delights, whether as gifts or for personal indulgence.
In 1999, The Nut Case Ltd was founded in Shepherd’s Bush. Since then, we have been serving the local community and customers far beyond with the exceptional products and service that were central to Jamil’s original vision.
